O design pode intervir em contextos sociais, expressando a nossa opinião relativamente a determinados aspectos da realidade em que vivemos. Com esta inquietude dentro de mim perante determinadas situações que vivi, não consigo evitar o inevitável: expressar a minha opinião relativamente à sociedade actual portuguesa, usando para isso a melhor arma que sei usar: o design! Para isso, usei um dos símbolos nacionais, adaptando-o à mensagem que quero transmitir. Fiz stickers e colei-os por todo o lado…

Tenho muito orgulho em ser portuguesa, e por isso mesmo, quero que o meu povo, que neste momento está como que “adormecido”, que acorde e enfrente a realidade de frente, que inscreva História (algo que já não acontece desde o 25 de Abril), em vez dos lamentos de cabeça-baixa, como que consentindo as injustiças… o poucos que tentam resistir, não são suficientes.

Mas toda esta inércia é muito mais complexa e profunda do que parece, por isso não quero apontar o dedo a ninguém, só quero que as pessoas acordem, que haja mais iniciativa, que não se acomodem numa realidade tão injusta.

I believe that Design must be used as well as a “weapon” to express certain ideas in a social reality. - You can influence people´s mind by using Design - this is is the most challenging part to me: trying to interfere socially by using street-art or graphic devices. At this point I only used stickers, but the plan is going much forward. As basic concept, I used the GALO DE BARCELOS (Barcelos rooster), one of the Portuguese national symbols, to express the lack of initiative thoughwards unfair social and economical situations. Everybody has comments, but nobody does anything in order to change it. it´s like if the Portuguese people would be sleeping, without having courage to fight the reality, the same we did once on the 25th of April. We are at the bottom of Europe in health, social, economical, education… etc, everybody knows it, but there´s no action. In a certain way, I hope my peolpe stands-up for reality, becoming more active…

I created stickers with a question “Do que estás à espera?”(what are you waiting for?) with the rooster having the same attitude as a ostrich, denying the problems by putting their heads under the ground.

Eu e uma amiga conseguimos ser seleccionadas para poder vender as nossas criações num dos festivais mais conhecidos em Portugal: Andanças! Foi uma experiência espectaular…

Andanças Festival is one of the most known and International festivals of Portugal (together with Boom Festival). A friend of mine and I were selected to participate in this Festival selling our products for the compleate week.

It was an amazing experience, and a great success!
